Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Abiaconnect Store ("Abiaconnect", "we", "us"), a marketplace platform available at abiaconnect.store and through the Abiaconnect Store mobile app. By creating an account or using Abiaconnect, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.
1. What Abiaconnect is
Abiaconnect is a marketplace that connects independent buyers and sellers across Nigeria. We are not the seller of any product listed on the platform — each store is independently operated. What we provide is the marketplace itself, the payment-protection system (described below), messaging between buyers and sellers, and dispute resolution when something goes wrong with an order placed through the platform.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- One account per person. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
- We may suspend or terminate an account for fraud, abuse, repeated policy violations, or other conduct that harms the platform or its users.
3. Selling on Abiaconnect
Opening a store requires completing seller registration and paying a one-time registration fee (the exact amount is shown during signup and may change over time). You are responsible for the accuracy of your product listings, for fulfilling orders you accept, and for shipping only through a legitimate courier, transport park, or logistics company both you and the buyer can trust.
4. Payments and held funds (escrow)
When a buyer pays for an order — through Paystack, Monnify, or Squad, whichever is active — the payment is not sent to the seller immediately. It is held by Abiaconnect until the order is confirmed delivered and no dispute is open. This is what lets buyers pay with confidence and gives sellers a guaranteed payout once they've actually delivered.
The platform fee pays for Abiaconnect's payment protection. It lets us hold the buyer's money until the goods are confirmed, and step in to settle a dispute fairly if something goes wrong. The fee is split equally between buyer and seller, so both sides share the cost and both are covered.
5. Delivery
Abiaconnect does not courier packages itself. The seller hands your order to a reputable courier, park or logistics company — one both sides can trust — and drops it at an agreed pickup point. You do not pay the seller for delivery. You pay the courier or park's delivery fee directly, in person, once your package has actually arrived at your location. Never send a delivery fee to the seller in advance, and never accept a delivery arranged through an unknown rider or an informal transport arrangement outside a recognized logistics company — that is exactly the kind of arrangement that leaves both sides unprotected if a package is delayed, damaged or never shows up.
6. Confirming your order and the 7-day window
Every order gets a unique 6-digit delivery code. A buyer confirms an order is complete either by sharing that code with the seller once satisfied, or by confirming directly from their dashboard.
Once a seller marks an order shipped, the buyer has 7 days to confirm the goods or hand over the delivery code — this is tracked automatically on every order. Sellers: ship promptly after payment is confirmed. Sitting on a paid order eats into this same 7-day window and delays your payout, so hand the package to your courier as soon as you can pack it. Buyers: inspect and confirm as soon as the package actually reaches you — don't wait. If you spot a problem, open a dispute before you confirm or share the code, not after. If 7 days pass with no action and no open dispute, Abiaconnect automatically confirms the order on your behalf and releases the seller's payout, so a delayed response can mean you lose the chance to flag an issue.
For security, entering the wrong delivery code 5 times locks that order's code entry. If this happens, the buyer can still confirm delivery directly from their dashboard, or contact support for help.
7. Disputes
If something is wrong with an order — the item never arrived, arrived damaged, doesn't match the listing, or another genuine issue — open a dispute from your order before confirming delivery or sharing the delivery code. You'll be asked for a reason and can attach photos or other evidence. The other party is notified and can respond with their own evidence.
A dispute must be opened within the 7-day confirmation window described above. If payment has already been released to the seller, you can still report a problem for up to 7 further days, but at that stage it's reviewed as a record for admin follow-up rather than something that can automatically pause an already-completed payout.
Our support team reviews the evidence from both sides and resolves the dispute — releasing the held funds to the seller, refunding the buyer, or another outcome depending on what the evidence shows. This decision is made in good faith based on the information provided by both parties, and is final.
8. Refunds
Where a dispute is resolved in the buyer's favor, Abiaconnect marks the order as refunded and instructs the payment provider to return the funds to the buyer. Depending on the payment method and provider, a refund can take several business days to reflect on your card or bank account after it's issued. Refunds are only possible while payment is still held by Abiaconnect — once funds have already been released to a seller (delivery confirmed, no dispute raised in time), they can no longer be recalled through the platform, which is exactly why it matters to inspect your order and raise any issue before confirming.
9. Seller payouts
Once an order is confirmed delivered and the 7-day dispute window has passed with no open dispute (or is confirmed early by the buyer or delivery code), payout to the seller's saved bank account is automatic, minus the platform fee described above. Sellers must keep verified, accurate payout bank details on file — payout cannot be sent without them. If an automatic payout attempt fails (for example, a bank-side issue), our team can retry it manually.
10. Stay on the platform
Abiaconnect Store is not responsible for any transaction, payment or delivery arranged or completed outside the platform. Payment protection, held payments and dispute resolution apply only to orders paid for through Abiaconnect. Moving a deal to a direct bank transfer, WhatsApp or a phone call removes every one of these protections: there is no held payment, no delivery code and no team to step in if the goods never arrive or the seller never gets paid. Keep all payments and order conversations on Abiaconnect.
11. Prohibited conduct
- Listing counterfeit, stolen, illegal, or prohibited goods
- Submitting false or misleading dispute evidence
- Attempting to move a paid transaction off-platform
- Creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension or restriction
- Harassing, threatening, or defrauding another user
- Attempting to interfere with, probe, or abuse the platform's systems or security
Violating these terms may result in a warning, order cancellation, account suspension, or permanent account termination, at our discretion.
12. Reviews and content
Reviews, messages, and other content you post must be honest and your own. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law, and may act on reports of fake or manipulated reviews.
13. Limitation of liability
Abiaconnect provides the marketplace, payment-holding, and dispute-resolution system in good faith, but we are not a party to the underlying sale between buyer and seller and don't guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of items listed by independent sellers. To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, Abiaconnect is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, transactions with other users, or delivery arrangements made outside Abiaconnect's held-payment system.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continued use of Abiaconnect after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
